  3. Hi!  I'm the sysop of Paradise Lost BBS.  (414-476-0989)  Recently
  4. someone logged on with a fake account and uploaded a file that claimed to
  5. "Register WWIV".  Upon doing a hex-view of the file, I found a message at
  6. hex address 174B - 17C2 that said:

  8. "    The Punisher has decided that
  9.      it was time for you to re-format
  10.      your hard drive. Sucker!!  New Albany kicking Ass!!"

  12. This has lead me to believe that the program will actually format your
  13. hard drive.

  15. The file was uploaded as "REGWWIV.ZIP" and is 5799 bytes in length.  The
  16. unziped file, "REGWWIV.EXE", is 9172 bytes in length.  I scanned the file
  17. with McAffee's scan 8.9V97 and it found no viruses.

  19. If any sysop encounters a file named "REGWWIV.ZIP","REGWWIV.EXE", or any
  20. file with description that says it will register WWIV, delete IMMEDIATLY!

  22. This file may not always claim to register a WWIV BBS because there is no
  23. referance in the file to WWIV at all.  So as always, check your files for
  24. viruses etc!  But still have fun!
